Should I?

I am seriously thinking about starting a business of my own but I’m stuck at “what should I do” part. Every now and then Jon will send me links of small business for sale but nothing seems to interest me. Maybe I’m just not ready to take the risk. The recent economic downturn does put a damper to the very thought of owning my business too.

It is a big step and a big risk to take. I’m happy that there friends who are successful business owners. One of them is Jennic, the co-owner of Kangarooboo. I remember the day she told me about her online store. Guess what? Kangarooboo is turning ONE year old on Oct 28th. Congrats, Jennie & Justin!

Just work

Trying to look for a job near home is not easy. We do have the big G in the area but it is rather difficult to get into that company (so I’ve heard). Nonetheless, I still send in my resume. I heard the benefits from the big G (rhymes with doodle) is exceptionally good. I sure don’t mind having free massages everyday while at work, or have excellent food from the cafeteria (they hire qualified Chef).

Looks like it’s time to do a sales job search again. *sigh*

Cubicle

If you are at work today and sitting at your cubicle, remember to wish your cubicle a Happy Birthday. Today marks the cubicle’s 40th year. I’m not going to go into details on the origin of the cubicle. You can always wikipedia or google it. I do detest my cubicle but then again, not everyone gets to have a room with a window.

The only people (in the blogworld) who have seen my cube are Vickie (wagwai.blogsome.com) and Michelle (parkbay.net). They will probably agree with me that my cube ain’t much to look at. It’s a boring 8×8 and is always cluttered with papers. This shows how much I love my work space. I don’t even bother to lock my drawers ‘cos there is nothing much to steal unless they want packets of sugar or some 3-in-1 drink sachets. I guess the most prized stuff in my drawer are the promotional products that only the Sales/Marketing department has privilege to. Other than that, it is just a boring, blue-colored cubicle.

Slow business? Need new tactics.

Business has been relatively low for us. The Channel Sales team is trying to sustain current key accounts but in my opinion they should always look for new leads. I have co-workers who have no time to find new leads due to heavy load strain from their current key accounts. If only the company would outsource to The Lead Dog to help generate some effective new leads, maybe the business will not be stagnant as it is now. The Lead Dog helps with sales lead management such as filling the sales pipeline with new leads and penetrates untouched regions. Now, if only someone in the upper management would listen.

Fiddling about…

The msn chat is acting weird now. I can’t receive nor send any message out. I hope it is a fixable issue ‘cos most of my friends are on msn. It is quite slow at work (again). Hmm, maybe it is time for me to check out other stuff like a franchise opportunity. I did see a franchise opportunity for a gelato business. If you haven’t tried a gelato before, you should. I prefer a creamy gelato cone over an ice-cream cone.

Twirling thumbs…

It’s so slow at work today. Let’s talk about pens! How many pens can a person have? I for one have 6 pens in the cuppie that sits on my work desk. I have 2 Papermate pens (one black and the other blue), 1 red dunno-what-brand pen, 1 pen from a partner vendor, 1 blue Pilot brand pen and 1 black company brand pen. So many pens but I always use the same one (the company pen).  Do you know pens have invisible legs? I always can’t seem to find my pens; probably that’s the reason why I have 6 pens on my desk. How many pens do you have?

Team-building, yea, we really need that.

You know what all the managers in my company needs now? They need some serious management training. If only the big M company who owns our T company invests at training the managers, I will not be losing hair now. Yes, I get frustrated when I have to deal with my dorky manager.

If M company wants to know which company to go with, I’ll recommend Teamworx. Teamworx has the years of experience and expertise in the field of management training and corporate teambuilding. I like the fact they emphasized on Integrity, Organized & Engaging training and Team building. All of this, my current company is lack of. *sigh*

My day at work

I loathe people who spread malicious gossips. My company used to have a lady who likes to stir crap among the co-workers. I’m so glad she has moved on to another company before I came back from my maternity leave.

A co-worker (the victim) was weaved into her malicious lie. She told the HR lady she smelled alcohol on this co-worker (he’s now an ex-colleague). HR lady went to the manager of my now ex-colleague about that matter. I have no idea what the manager said to him. Maybe he had asked him curtly; maybe he suggested alcohol rehab; but all I know is this co-worker quit shortly after that conversation. I managed to catch him on his last day at work and he told me he had enough of the crap that was thrown at him. Poor fella.

Everyday I come in to work, there is something new. Sometimes it is better than watching daytime soap-opera. Do you have such a person working in your company?
