Bathtime with Belle

Daddy tried to get away from doing his showering duty by saying it is Bonding Time for Mommy and Belle. Wah seh! This kinda excuse also he can come up with!

So, I have been bathing Belle and kill two birds with one stone by showering too. I will fill up her small tub with warm water before undressing her. Once the tub is filled, off both of our clothes. I will shower her first, apply body shampoo on her hair and body and re-shower her. Then, in the bath tub she goes. I will then clean her nose ‘cos this girl has a lot of booger; clean her private part and bottom. Once I’m done with her, then only I will shower.

I’ve been trying to teach Belle how to spit out water. I’ve showed her so many times but each time I put water in her mouth, she would swallow it. Lately, she has shown interest in “trying” to spit out the water. She will first ask for water to be in her mouth. Once the water is in her mouth, she will swallow first then make the spitting sound. *piak forehead*

Once she did it and I laughed out loud. She thought it was funny too and started to laugh at herself. From that day, whenever she did her swallow and spit sound (during bathtime), she will giggle. Sigh, this girl is so silly!

Daycare update

Belle is coping well at the daycare. She doesn’t cry when we leave her now. She will say her bye-bye, fly kiss and off she goes to play with the toys. Teacher Tina told me she plays with 2 other girls, Abby (2 mths older than her) and Angie (21-mth old). These 3 girls laugh a lot and talk in gibberish to one another.

On top of having a swell time with her friends, Belle loves to do crafts, such as hand painting. She did a Valentine’s Day craft and that artwork is posted on the wall. I can’t wait to bring it home once V-Day is over. Teacher Tina also told me she loves crayons, as in biting into it! She would have to watch her closely everytime crayons are involved in the artwork. She told me Belle will steal a look at her just to make sure Tina isn’t looking. Once she sees Tina not paying attention on her, she will try to bite into the crayon. This girl of mine is so sly! :lol:

She is napping well too. When she first started, her naptime didn’t last more than 45 mins. Now she can sleep over an hour and today she napped for 1 hr 45 mins! That is a great improvement! She has also learn to self-feed too. Unfortunately her hand-spoon coordination is still immature. Her lunch consists a lot of peanut-butter and jam sandwich. I would cut the sandwich into 4 pieces just so she can hold on to it. Whenever PB&J is on her lunch menu she will wallop everything. I’m glad she loves it ‘cos it makes my life A LOT easier! Less cooking, I’m a happy gal! :)

I hope Belle keeps up the good work.

Doors

Belle has a fascination for doors.

She insists on having all doors closed. If she sees any door with just a slight opening crack, she will immediately run to it and close it. There was one time I was in the master bathroom and she was playing by herself in the room. I heard her walked out of the room and into the corridor she went. Then I heard the door slammed shut. I yelled out for her but heard nothing.

I went out and didn’t see her. I yelled again. Silence.

I then went out to the corridor and yelled for Belle. Silence. After a few yelling for “Belle! Belle!” I finally heard muffling sound from Jon’s study room. I opened the door to his room and saw Belle standing by the door. Yup, this little missy went into the study room and shut the door behind her.

On another incident, which happened just few hours ago. The in-laws came over and we went upstairs to view our new Cal King bed (Yes! Our bed is finally here!). After viewing our brand new shack-machine bed, we went downstairs.

Belle walked through the double doors to the family room and turned back to look at us. She saw we didn’t enter the family room and walked straight to her Nai Nai. She held her Nai Nai’s hand, pulled her into the family room. Then she walked back to me, held my hand and pulled me into the family room. Next was her Ya Ya and finally her Daddy. Once she had everyone in the family room, she closed the door. She just wanna make sure everyone is in the room so that she could close the door.

Sigh, what’s up with this girl?

Hello?

Funny scene happened just 5 mins ago.

Belle with my cell phone.

Belle: Haaalloo…haaallooo.. (placing the phone on her ear)…Haaalllooo…

I looked over. Guess what she did next?

Belle: Haalllooo..*smoooootch*

Eh, the girl kissed the mouth piece of the cellphone. I wonder who she is thinking of when she had the phone. Maybe she was thinking of her Daddy.  Daddy is in L.A. tonight for his friend’s wedding.

Thank you

I can tell we are so loved.

Whenever I am online at IM, some of my friends & blogger friends will send messages such as, “How are all 3 of you?”, “Is Belle feeling better?”, and all sorts of concern.

We’re so blessed to have friends like y’all. :)

Belle and Jon are recovering (slowly) from the cough and cold. I on the other hand have been ran down from one ailment to another. Last week I had severe headache and the entire region around my nose and eyes, leading to upper molars was achy. I finally called my primary care doc and found out I have the classic case of Sinusitis aka sinus infection. I’m on antibiotics now but the pain isn’t going away. :(

Thanks again for your concern. It is nice to know we’re being thought of from time to time. :)

Miss Possessive

Just little incidents and words that I wanna document before I forget:

Words that Belle picks up and understands

1. Sit – She can repeat the word Sit whenever we say Sit to her. She also sits upon hearing that word too.

2. Two – She knows what comes after One whenever I count for her. I would go, One, and she would say Doo (Two)!

3. Chor chor (Cantonese: Sit) – She will sit whenever I tell her to chor chor. Unfortunately, she doesn’t try to say the words chor chor.

4. Sayang (Malay: love, hug or carress) – When I say, Belle sayang Mommi, she will plant a kiss on my cheeks and most of the times on my lips.

5. Kiss – She kisses us whenever we ask for it. She is a willing kisser..hehe.

6. Mumm Mumm (Motherese: Food or eat) - She will say mumm mumm whenever she wants something to eat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night while all 3 of us were on the bed Jon kissed me on the cheeks. He did it few times. Belle saw it and became jealous. She pushed her daddy away and planted few kisses on my cheeks and lips. :lol:
Jon tested her again. He kissed me a few times more. Again, Belle pushed her daddy away, climbed onto me and kissed me on the cheeks.
I thought girls will be jealous of their Mom whenever Daddy is around but Belle has proved it wrong. This little missy is very possessive of her Mommi. :D
A little milestone at 14-mth & 2 wks
Work has been really busy and stressful lately. Yesterday I came home from work with a major headache. Once I reached home, opened the door and saw my little one on the couch with her Ya Ya.  She gave me a sheepish smile, climbed down the couch and stood motionless for few seconds.
I said, “Come to Mommi!” and stretched my arms to her. Her face beamed, tottled over to me and hugged me immediately.
I said, “Give Mommi a kiss.” She planted a BIG smootch (with the smootching sound) on my lips.
Do you know how I feel? I felt all the stress from work just lifted off my shoulders. I think I’ll need this kinda therapy/treatment from my daughter everyday just to keep my mind sane.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Belle copied a word yesterday and the word is “YES.”

She can say YES like Yeeas or Yaas or Yessss.

I was so thrill about it and every now and then (last night) I would say YES just to hear her copy me. :lol: This mom is tormenting her poor kid with words..haha!

Belle knows how to say NO and she uses it very frequently. I’m so glad she knows how to say and understand the word YES. Now she and I can have verbal argument: “Yesss…Noooo…Yes..No!” Oh boy, this is gonna be frequently heard when she becomes a teenager *yikes*.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The most rewarding thing for the week is she finally calls me “Mi.”
Both my sister and I call our Mom, Mi or Mi Mi or Maaa.
After hearing Belle calls me Mi I felt, well, older. Isn’t it weird? I thought I would  be elated or jumping through the roof but nope, I felt old. Maybe it is because it finally dawns on me that my little girl is growing up and she will forever grow older. So will I.
The joy of seeing our little ones growing is quite an experience and I have no words to describe it. But, at the same time, I feel sadness. I will not be able to keep Belle small and knowing the fact once she gets older (20 years later) I will have to let her go just so she can be independent. I bet this is how my parents felt too.
Having her is a reward ‘cos now I know what my parents have gone through and I truly appreciate them. Gosh, how did I get off the topic. Haha! Like I’ve said before, Belle refers to me as Mi and I LOOOVE IT!
