Clock Craze Moment

posted in Good Stuff |

I have mentioned before I love grandfather clocks since I was very little. At times I can’t help but to browse through the beautiful Howard Miller grandfather clocks from 1-800-4Clocks.com.

I have also notice the brand, Howard Miller, does not only have grandfather clocks, it also has Mantel Clocks, Wall Clocks, Grandmother Clocks and Alarm Clocks. I really like the Howard Miller mantel clocks and if I do get one, it will sit nicely on my study table. My husband and I are looking at getting an antique-looking roll-top study table for our family room and this mantel clock I have been eyeing on is the perfect ensemble.

Personally, I think a grand clock can be a valuable heirloom. It would nice to own one and have it passed down from one generation to another. In order for that to happen we will need to take care of our clocks. Here is a great piece written in the Clocksblog about clock care and feeding. Do you know that a grandfather clock needs to be brought in for a complete cleaning for every 5-8 years and oiling for every 2-4 years? I did not know that! This is a good piece of information that needs to be passed down to my aunt who owns a grandfather clock. It is also advised that oiling should be done by a professional or a capable horological hobbyist.

Imagine doing that you will be sure your clock will last from generation to generations.
